The casino on Fisher Drive
Shorelines Casino Peterborough sits at 3800 Fisher Drive, Peterborough, Ontario K9J 6X6, in the southwest of the city. Great Canadian Entertainment runs it under its Shorelines Casinos brand, as part of OLG's East gaming bundle. OLG conducts and manages casino gaming in Ontario, and private companies run the floors day to day. The doors opened on Monday, October 15, 2018.
Think of it as a deck with two suits. The 50,000 square foot casino holds over 500 slots and e-tables, counted as one figure, plus 12 live table games. One card is missing from the deck: there is no poker room listed. The poker-style games here are played against the dealer.
Live tables and their hours
Seven live games are listed: Blackjack, Mini Squeeze Baccarat, Roulette, Ultimate Texas Hold'em, Mississippi Stud, Free Bet Blackjack and Three Card Poker. Which ones run on a given night depends on business volumes. Dealers start at 4 pm Monday to Thursday and close at midnight. Friday and Saturday, dealing starts at noon and runs until 2 am. Sunday runs from noon to midnight.
For lower minimums, the low-limit tables offer $5 novelty poker and $15 blackjack. They deal Wednesday and Thursday 4 pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday noon to 2 am, Sunday noon to midnight. Minimums on every table change with the day's business. To ask about limits or reserve a private table, contact the casino at 1-833-678-0880.
Slots and e-tables
The slot cards run from 1 cent machines up to higher-limit machines, and there are high-limit slots and tables. Slots run through all of the casino's opening hours. The casino does not publish those general hours, so phone ahead if timing matters. When the live tables are dealing, the casino is open.
Electronic table games come next in the deck. The list covers Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat and Craps. Video poker comes in three versions: 4 of a Kind Poker, Deuces Wild Poker and Jacks or Better Poker. You play each from one seat, at your own pace. A sports betting kiosk is also listed among the amenities.
Food and drink
Two food cards sit in the deck at Fisher Drive. A restaurant and bar, whose name is not published, serves modern casual food and has a fully licensed bar. The Buffet has themed menus, needs no reservation and gives special discounts to Great Canadian Rewards members. Comp Dollars are accepted at both. Hours and prices for either are not published, so ask the casino before you go.
The rewards card
Great Canadian Rewards is the operator's loyalty card in Ontario, available at no charge online or in person at Guest Services. Members must be 19 or older and not self-excluded or trespassed. On a visit, members insert the card into a slot machine. Rewards earned are combined and can be used at all 12 Great Canadian Rewards destinations. That includes Shorelines Casino Peterborough and Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs.
Getting there and the door
Parking at the casino is complimentary. Without a car, Peterborough Transit Route 5, The Parkway, runs between the downtown terminal and Fleming College. It stops at "Fisher at Shorelines Casino" Monday to Friday, on Saturdays, and on Sundays and holidays. Timetables are on the City of Peterborough site.
At the door, Ontario law keeps out anyone younger than 19, whether arriving or staying. Great Canadian Entertainment's code of conduct reads "We ID under 30", so carry original, physical government-issued photo ID. A second piece can also be requested. Smoking or vaping is limited to designated areas, and cannabis is forbidden on every part of the property. Guide dogs, service animals, personal assistive devices and a support person are all welcome, subject to the age limit.
Slots at Kawartha Downs
Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs is a slots room at the racetrack, 1382 County Road 28, Fraserville, ON K0L 1V0, phone 705-939-2400. It is 7.7 km in a straight line from Fisher Drive. The room has 150 slots and no table games, live or electronic, and opens daily from 10 am to midnight. Parking is complimentary, and the same rewards card and Comp Dollars work there. The 19+ Player's Lounge & Café on the slots floor is run by Kawartha Downs, not the casino operator.
A limit for the night
Settle on two numbers before you head out: how much you are willing to spend and how many hours you mean to stay. The budget card tool divides that amount into one card per hour. Spend each card in its own hour, and when the last card is gone, you stop. Money set aside for rent or bills stays out of the deck. Casinos in Ontario are for people 19 and older.
Your night in cards
Divide the money for tonight by the hours you plan to stay: that is one card per hour. When the last card is spent, the night is done.
Online play in Ontario
Ontario's regulated online casino market dates from April 4, 2022. To be legal here, a private online operator needs registration by the AGCO, the regulator, and an iGaming Ontario operating agreement. You can find the official directory of these sites at igamingontario.ca. OLG.ca is the Ontario government's own online casino, run by OLG. All of it is 19+ and only while you are physically in Ontario.
On this guide's home page, each paid link is marked Ad. These links go to a privately run online casino partner, not OLG.ca, with no tie to OLG, the AGCO or Great Canadian Entertainment. The guide gets a commission from this partner, which could be swapped for a different one.
